Recently as I was surfing on the web, doing nothing much in particular, I had an idea for a kind of company/business that might turn out to be quite a profitable venture. Since I have no hopes of having enough capital, skill, resources or will to build up such a company myself, I decided to post it here for people to either steal it or comment on it. Note that I haven’t spent much time thinking this out, and it might suck if put into place as-is.
Moving on, the idea itself was simple - what if there was a website, which would enable fans to meet their idols in a mostly hassle-free, extremely easy way? It would probably be awesome, and very popular. Now if we had to make such a website, how would we go about it? Where does the profit come from? What the hell am I talking about?
Look at it this way - say, you hope to meet Mr. Xyz someday, as do thousands of other people. There’s this website you can go to, and vote for Mr. Xyz, and mention a place you’d like him to visit. Optionally, you can donate a small sum towards this end. At the end of every week, this website’s developers will choose the top five voted-for people, and organize an appearance at the respective most voted for places!
The money to do so would come both from visitors/voters and sponsors, and maybe the company can make a little profit on top. It’s not difficult to imagine hundreds of people turning up for such an event, and tens of sponsors wanting to put up their posters and stalls. This whole thing, then, would be the idea I was talking about.
I know that it is awesome, and I would love to see something like this myself. My question is, what do you think?

Keep in mind I totally suck at marketing AND it’s late but I think it’s pretty original!
Now, I can see where and how money would be made. But would fans be interested? Because of costs etc. biggest cities/ events would be booked first… and sounds like it already exist: concerts, festivals, movie premieres etc.

Well since all the fans have to do is vote, I can’t see why they wouldn’t want to increase their chances of meeting their idols by that much…
And though concerts and premieres exist, this will give a chance to people to bring all that closer to home.

I usually don’t get mad when Bloggers are inspired by “my” design or ideas
I’m too vain for that!
I like your new link gallerie and I’d love to be part of it! I’ll add you to mine this week end. Sorry to be slow to add you to my blogroll, it’s just that I changed theme recently and have to master everything first. But I’ll get this done!

I originally made the gallery for websites rather than blogs, but then I’d only have it mostly empty…not to mention the fact that blogs are more beautiful.
You were there for a while till I experimented with adding a website. I already have a thumbnail, so sure, why not.
Oh, and there’s no need to hurry about adding my link
